Malema and the ANCYL insisted it was not an official supporters’ page.<br /><br />Lawrence Schlemmer, vice president of the South African Institute of Race Relations, said: “There is no reason why these things, as tragic as they are, should affect the safety of fans or players at the World Cup. Or Rwanda?</span></strong></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:medium;"><br />Imagine if Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, or any other politician in America publicly sang songs that said African Americans were dogs, that they were cowards that robbed society and that they should be killed—and then shrugged off criticism by saying the lyrics were just <a href="http://www.afrol.com/articles/35813">part of America’s heritage</a> and didn’t really mean anything.<br /><br />There would be an uproar—and rightly so.<br /><br />What if the president of the United States agreed? And he regularly whipped supporters into a frenzy by dancing and singing a song titled “<a href="http://www.newsweek.com/id/194586">Bring Me My Machine Gun</a>”? And what if the president was acting like this at a time when black Americans across the country were being hunted down and murdered because of their race?<br /><br />Human rights activists would be up in arms and the United Nations would be breathing down America’s neck for using hate speech to incite racial violence. There would be lawsuits, international arrest warrants, and very likely assassination attempts. America would be the pariah of the world.<br /><br />Yet, these are the very words and sentiments espoused by the two most powerful politicians in South Africa. And both are blatantly open about it. Meanwhile, South Africa’s white farmers are being murdered at appalling rates.<br /><br />Yet the world, and the United Nations—that supposed bastion of anti-discrimination—say little or nothing about it.<br /><br />Why? Because South Africa is supposed to be the poster nation for anti-racism and reconciliation. After all, the world came together in unity to oust the ruling white government in South Africa. So it is a bit embarrassing to find out that the oppressed have become the oppressors. In this politically correct world, apparently racism only works one way.<br /><br />But when the racial tension eventually explodes—and explode it will—who will be blamed?<br /><br />This question was rudely shoved to the forefront of South African society last week. Just months before the <strong>2010 soccer World Cup</strong> that will see tens of thousands of international tourists descend upon Johannesburg, Cape Town and other cities, South Africans are reevaluating what 20-plus years of post-apartheid rule has done for the country.<br /><br />Are things really any better today?<br /><br />On April 3, Eugene Terre’Blanche, the former leader of the political militia movement that violently opposed the end of apartheid, was brutally <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/apr/04/eugene-terreblanche-south-african-white-supremacist">hacked to death</a>. His chopped remains were found scattered across his bed. The murder weapons—machete and wooden club—were left next to the bloody remains. According to reports, one of the accused said that Terre’Blanche had verbally abused him for years, and when he refused to pay him his wages (reported to be about $41), he just couldn’t take it anymore.<br /><br />According to most press reports, the murder was just a wage dispute gone wrong. But the fact that the murderers pulled down the old man’s pants to expose his naked mutilated body—an act previously used to dehumanize murdered white farmers—suggests that it was anything but a simple murder.<br /><br />Terre’Blanche’s death came at a particularly embarrassing time for South Africa, for two reasons.<br /><br />First, it was the latest in a string of high-profile, racially motivated attacks against white farmers in South Africa. Just <a href="http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_8064/is_20100328/ai_n52926589/">two weeks earlier</a>, Nigel Ralfe was milking his cows on his farm when four men marched into the yard asking to buy milk. When he replied that he had none to sell, they shot him twice and then pistol whipped him. They then dragged him to his house where his wife was bathing their three grandchildren. When his wife opened the door they shot her three times point blank.<br /><br />As the gang ripped apart the house, the bewildered children emerged from the bathroom to find their grandmother dying on her bed where she had collapsed. After stealing an old pistol, a pair of binoculars and a phone, the four men walked away.<br /><br />More white farmers were murdered in South Africa during just 2009 than have been in Zimbabwe since Robert Mugabe came to power. Since the end of apartheid, over <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8602347.stm">3,000 white farmers have been murdered</a>, according to the bbc. South Africa’s News24, on the other hand, says there have been <a href="http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/Politics/Farming-Most-dangerous-job-20060713">“<em>only</em>” 1,600 farmers killed</a> in attacks since 1991. Even if that figure is true, it would still make farming in South Africa one of the most dangerous professions in the world. White farmers are more than twice as likely to be killed as police officers, and far more likely to be killed than miners.<br /><br />Second, the killing of Terre’Blanche came only a few days after Julius Malema, the firebrand leader of Jacob Zuma’s African National Congress’s (anc’s) Youth League, whipped university students into a frenzy by repeatedly chanting “kill the boer, kill the boer” at a rally. “Kill the boer” is literally translated as “kill the farmer,” but is used to mean “kill the white farmers.” The rest of the song includes the phrases “the cowards are scared,” “these dogs are raping,” and “shoot, shoot … shoot the boer.”<br /><br />The phrases are reminiscent of the words “kill the cockroach,” which Hutus chanted as they slaughtered the Tutsis in Rwanda. But instead of censoring Malema for his hate speech, Zuma’s anc went to court to challenge an earlier court judgment that declared the lyrics as unconstitutional and unlawful.<br /><br />On April 3, Malema flew to Zimbabwe to meet Robert Mugabe and take part in lavish celebrations marking 30 years in power for the Zimbabwean president. Malema and Mugabe share the same vision. Malema is pushing to nationalize South Africa’s mining industry and is among those pushing for a controversial new policy to hasten the “redistribution” of white-owned land in South Africa—the same policies that turned Zimbabwe from a breadbasket of Africa into the continent’s biggest basket case.<br /><br />Like Zimbabwe, South Africa has now nationalized all water rights and mineral rights and is forcing companies to sell partial ownership to black people or organizations.<br /><br />The trouble facing South Africa’s white population looks set to intensify. The farmers may be the first to get run over, but all South Africans should worry. Just look at what has happened in virtually every country north of the border.<br /><br />Ezekiel 7:23-27 perfectly describe South Africa today. The Bible prophesies that so many bloody violent crimes will occur that they will be like links in a chain—one right after another. This passage even talks about people’s homes being taken away and conflict between nationalities.<br /><br />Conditions will get so bad in South Africa that eventually—in desperation—people will begin searching for God. They will cry out for Him to save them. But God says it will be futile because He is purposefully sending the punishment (for proof that this passage is referring to the nation of South Africa, read the book <a href="http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?page=book&b=61"><em>The United States and Britain in Prophecy</em></a>).<br /><br />But there is hope for South Africa, and the whole world. Verse 27 also says that God is sending the punishment so that “they shall know that I am the Lord.”<br /><br />God does not want people to suffer. He loves all races and nationalities. And God wants people to be truly happy. But true peace and happiness can only come from obeying His laws and commandments. God wants the people of South Africa and the world to obey Him. If they would, blessings of peace and prosperity would result. A basic theme of the Bible is blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. Unfortunately, because of disobedience, the curses will keep on coming.<br /><br />The soccer World Cup is around the corner. A crowd of Zanu-PF supporters and Zimbabwean government officials sang the song as a sign of support.</span></strong><br /><br />Flanked by his delegation and hordes of Zanu-PF officials and businessmen, Malema looked surprised on hearing the song from Zanu-PF supporters, but smiled, clapped his hands and started nodding in approval as members of his delegation joined in.<br /><br />He was then whisked away in a Mercedes-Benz ML owned by President Robert Mugabe's nephew, Patrick Zhuwawo, as part of a 30-vehicle cavalcade.<br /><br />The civil rights movement AfriForum brought the interdict against Malema in the Pretoria High Court on Thursday night - the second time Malema had been gagged in less than a week - in a bid, it said, to protect his life.<br /><br />A viral SMS, which the ANC has deemed a "declaration to kill", spread across the country this week, putting a R2 million bounty on his life.<br /><br />Meanwhile, 20 000 people have joined an Afriforum Facebook site, paying R10 a time to help fund its court actions in its "Stop Malema" campaign.<br /><br />Yesterday, an incensed ANC spokesman Jackson Mthembu warned AfriForum and the Freedom Front Plus of the "unintended consequences" of the campaign, saying "apartheid propaganda" like this had led to the assassination of SACP legend Chris Hani. The ANC has approached Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa to investigate who is behind the SMS.<br /><br />Last Friday, the Johannesburg High Court indirectly silenced the firebrand leader when it ruled that the use of the words "dubula ibhunu" was unconstitutional and unlawful.<br /><br />Malema is now also expressly forbidden from uttering any song of a similar nature that incites violence.<br /><br />Yesterday, Malema received an unexpected boost from the Azanian Youth Organisation (Azayo), which said singing Dubula Ibhunu was a reminder of what remained to be done in South Africa.<br /><br />Azayo spokesman Sibongile Somdaka said the song formed part of South Africa's collective history and could not be abandoned to please "the liberal media and white right-wing groups for the sake of reconciliation".<br /><br />"So long as there is still a lack of ownership of our land by blacks and fair distribution of resources... Azayo will continue to sing "shoot the boere/dubula ibhunu" in all our gatherings... to remind the coming (sic) of where we come from, and what still needs to be done in the country," he said.<br /><br />AfriForum youth leader Ernst Roets told the Saturday Star this week that the ruling actually protected Malema.<br /><br />"People are really frustrated and scared by the statement.<br /><br />He is putting fuel onto a potential fire. People want to... stop him.<br /><br />"We are protecting him from himself. If he continues to sing this song he will... make more enemies. He can't continue to... incite racial violence and polarise the country," Roets said.<br /><br />AfriForum approached the Pretoria High Court this week after Malema refused to meet its ultimatum to apologise for singing the song at the University of Johannesburg last month and on other occasions.<br /><br />Granting the interdict, Judge Eberhard Bertelsmann said South Africa's democracy was still fragile and politicians had to consider things that could offend other groups.<br /><br />The ANC yesterday said it was disappointed at Judge Bertelsmann's "lack of consideration" for the song's historical context. Malema's song "dubula ibhunu" (Kill the boer, kill the farmer) a call to murder white people.</span> <p><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><span style="color:#990000;">Dairy farmer critically injured, wife tragically killed in Colenso KZN</span></strong><br /><br />71-year-old farm owner, Nigel Ralfe, was critically injured while his 64-year-old wife, Lynette was tragically killed.<br /><br />It's believed that the gang members entered the farm at around 6pm pretending to be interested in buying some milk. They then allegedly pulled out their firearms and shot the farm owner twice.<br /><br />The farmer was assaulted and during the assault he said they kept asking him for money, and he informed them that they didn't have any cash on the farm. They ransacked the house but nothing much seems to have been taken.<br /><br />Lynette, who'd come outside to see what was happening, was then also shot. She sadly died at the scene.<br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;color:#000000;">This is the third attack on farmers in one weekend.</span><br /><br /></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><span style="color:#990000;">On Saturday night, a 46-year-old farmer was shot through his bedroom window while sleeping on his Rietfontein farm near Potchefstroom.</span></strong><br /><br />The man was taken to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital in a critical condition while police search for those involved.<br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;"><strong><span style="color:#990000;">On Friday, 65-year-old Jan Wheeler was murdered outside Marble Hall in Limpopo.</span></strong> </span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-family:arial;">His killers gained access into the farmer's house by breaking the back door.<br /><br />They overpowered Wheeler in the bedroom and repeatedly stabbed him with a sharp object. The men took a few electrical household appliances and ran away.<br /><br />The DA member of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature, Tom Stokes said he believed the issue of farm killings was aggravated by [Malema's] singing of struggle songs that advocated the killing of farmers.<br /><br />He was referring to Malema singing "kill the boer" song last week at a meeting while addressing students at the University of Johannesburg.<br /><br />This caused an uproar as some people viewed it as advocating the killing of farmers.<br /><br />"Malema's actions, along with subsequent attempts by the ANC's Gwede Mantashe to justify his conduct, stand in stark contrast to the pain and suffering being experienced by this family and the many others before them," said Stokes.<br /><br />"No deep thoughts are needed to realise that Malema's comments are creating an atmosphere which is conducive for those who want to commit murder...he is an accessory to the wiping out of farmers in South Africa."<br /><br />The argument by the ANC that the song was merely a preservation of struggle literature, rang hollow in the face of a family that had lost a wife, mother and grandmother, said Stokes, referring to Sunday night's farm murder in KwaZulu-Natal.<br /><br />The Freedom Front Plus was in the meantime preparing a report on farm murders and Malema's role in it. Spokesman Ishmael Mnisi said on Wednesday that the party was always in touch with the league, but had not decided whether to talk to Malema about this particular matter.<br /><br />In layman's terms the ruling party that forms the government that is in charge of all South Africans can't decide whether racist attacks on certain of their citizens needs to be dealt with by them.<br /><br />Perhaps at the next election they may wish to clarify before the vote that if the ANC are elected as the next government then they see their role as strictly overseeing the needs and requirements of the ANC membership. This in turn will mean that the remaining 45 odd million South Africans are going to need a separate government to deal with their issues.<br /><br />Pursuant to a declaration along those lines the ANC will be more than welcome to focus on purely party matters from what will then be fewer seats than those currently held by the ID.<br /><br />In the meanwhile, as they are the government and ruling party in charge of all South Africans - while clearly in desperate need of a few tutorials on what distinguishes a constitutional democracy like South Africa from the anarchy that is Somalia - perhaps they might want to consider what the implications are going to be if everyone starts behaving like Malema and certain other leaders.<br /><br />He is after all a role model to the masses.<br /><br />If every interest group that goes to make up the aggregate of what we consider our masses starts calling for violence and resorts to name calling against the ANC or the government every time it feels so inclined what will be the response?<br /><br />As things stand you can't even scratch your ear with your middle finger if the President's convoy is passing by in case you get picked up, have a brown bag put over your head and interrogated to see that you aren't endangering our leader.<br /><br />Yet when the leader of one of the biggest groups in the country - the ANCYL - calls the leader of the opposition a Satanist and the head of the ID a woman that no normal man could marry the ANC can't work out whether to deal with it or not.<br /><br />The hypocrisy is overwhelming.<br /><br />When Malema called for white people to be shot and accused them of being rapists somewhere, somehow, someone surely asked the question of how much longer this is going to be allowed to carry on before it turns on those who don't deal with it.<br /><br />For example if, once again, other groups followed the youth league president's fine lead and called upon their followers to shoot other races would the government expect the police to have to go in and arrest them and if so how would they be able to distinguish it from Malema's case without arresting him?<br /><br />Or is Malema simply above the law?<br /><br />As we saw earlier today the police are changing to military ranks to try and instill discipline.<br /><br />That's nonsense.<br /><br />You fight corruption and crime by setting examples at the top and clamping down on slackness at the bottom. The same way that you ensure that a culture of lawlessness does not arise by giving example after example of leaders and politicians who disregard the rule of law as if it is some kind of irritant.<br /><br />A disregard which seems to permeate every level of our society.<br /><br />What is going to happen when South African society, using our leaders as their example, start disregarding the laws that they consider inappropriate to themselves? Is the government going to try another do as I say not as I do number?<br /><br />At that point in time the very system that maintains law and order will, as a result of their own conduct, become ineffective in dealing with the society that it is meant to regulate and the people who are responsible for undermining it by gross disregard, will be the ones calling out the military.<br /><br />In a country where so much anger exists over the perceived failure of service delivery coupled to a culture of violence that arises from way back when the last thing that anyone would expect is that those in charge of the country do anything to jeopardize a criminal justice system which they may well need in the not too distant future. </span></span><p><br /></p>

Employee claims she was told 'blacks are baboons'

I cannot, however, comment any further at this stage as the company has set up a grievance meeting with an independent chairperson and I will give my evidence to the chairperson," said Tönsing, who manages SMG Group's Durban Approved Repair Centre.<br /><br />Dlamini, who has worked for SMG - which specialises in BMWs and Mini Coopers - since January 2008, submitted to court a copy of an e-mail complaint she sent to Tönsing a day after the alleged comments.<br /><br />In an e-mail response, Tönsing apologised for "any discrimination" she may have felt and said the conversation referred to was a "general discussion we had about evolution and not directed at any single person ..."<br /><br />Dlamini said she was pregnant at the time and only gathered the strength last week to lodge the complaint. She has also laid a charge of crimen injuria against Tönsing.<br /><br />He was arrested a day later and appeared in court on Monday. However, the case was withdrawn by prosecutors on Tuesday, allegedly due to lack of evidence.<br /><br />Sean McCarthy, managing director of SMG Group, which owns three luxury car dealerships in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Cape Town, was named first respondent in Dlamini's complaint.<br /><br />On Friday, McCarthy's lawyers brought an urgent interdict in the Equality Court to have his name removed from the court papers. An interim order was granted and the matter returns to court on March 5.<br /><br />McCarthy said he viewed the allegations against Tönsing in an "extremely serious light".<br /><br />"This is not our policy, and if our internal investigation shows that any bit of this hate speech incident is true, in terms of the bounds of the law, we will go to the extreme," said McCarthy.<br /><br />But Dlamini said she felt justified in naming McCarthy in court papers. "Soon after the incident took place I reported it to my younger brother, Harry, who confronted Sean about it and he took no action."<br /><br />McCarthy denies having spoken with Dlamini's brother. </span><p>

According to the ANCYL, Jonathan Jansen must be shot dead. Murdered. I see no other interpretation when the word "racists" as opposed to "racism" is used in Meeko's statement.<br /><br />Of course, now that the cat is out of the bag, no one meant anything they said!<br /><br />It is about time that the ANC Youth League starts saying what they mean, and taking responsibility for it! For goodness sakes, they are certainly old enough. On the other hand, if they are indeed incapable of choosing spokesmen who can articulate their beliefs clearly (which seems to be the case), they should just shut up.<br /><br />It is high time that they and their parent body, the ANC, are held responsible for this type of behavior and stop using the excuse of youth. Africa has a shameful history of child soldiers, violence and criminality, and we do not need this type of irresponsible destructive behavior promulgated by the intentionally aggravating comments of the "youth" in the ANCYL.<br /><br />Their only way of being popular and making a name for themselves seems to be through easy-come-easy-go hate speech, as opposed to actually doing something intelligent and constructive towards building a better South Africa.<br /><br />It is high time that some of the adults in this country, and in particular in the ANC, start to hold these buffoons responsible for the offensive and dangerous drivel they spout.<br /><br />Come on President Zuma, put your money where your mouth is (or is it your mouth where your money is?) and discipline these people who speak in the name of the ANC. Are you man enough, or do they suit your agenda just fine? Until you prove otherwise, I, for one, will certainly assume the latter.<br /><br />The ANCYL must now be held accountable for their hate speech.<br /><br />Justice must apply equally to all, so to the ANCYL I say: take your justice just as you demand it be given to others. Feeble excuses hold no water beyond the playground. According to your own ANCYL Policy on Education, you strive for 100 percent literacy. Clearly you have some way to go, even with your spokesmen and senior office bearers. Get on with it, but in the mean time, shut up and, for all our sakes, grow up! </span><br /></span><br /></p>
