This high crime rate is experienced by the industry as economic sabotage,” said Agri-SA.<br /><br />In addition to the loss of commercial farmers, more than 1 million black African farm workers have become unemployed and have had to move their families to squatter camps. In total, approximately 5 million people have been displaced.<br /><br /><em><span style="color: #660000;">Now the last of SA's white farmers are about to depart for greener pastures in Georgia, Eastern Europe. It's a pity our government doesn't have this approach."<br /><br />Georgia needs expertise as it wants to uplift its agricultural sector which was destroyed by <span style="color: #990000;">socialism and communism</span> about 70 years ago.</span><p>

From what was arguably one of the greatest triumphs of sporting capitalism in the world, the country is increasingly being squeezed between groups that either believe Marx, Lenin and Trotsky were right or that Venezuela's Hugo Chavez is the world's greatest living man. And being bullied into believing these are only two options on the table. </span></strong>By BRANKO BRKIC.</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 130%;">The last full week of August 2010 brought firm displays of power and determination by two antipodes within the ruling tripartite alliance: At one pole, the public servants' strike raged across the country, accompanied by ugly scenes of dehumanising stupidity, and being greatly strengthened by Cosatu's Zwelinzima Vavi's threat to stop SA's heartbeat. At the other pole, safely ensconced behind menacing bodyguards and security officers, ANC Youth League officials and national general council delegates plotted their way to greater influence of their own; influence that would result in changing of SA's Constitution to bring their Chavez-like plans to reality, as well as to ensure hastening their own ascent to power.<br /><br />As we are writing this, President Zuma has ordered his relevant ministers to return to the negotiating table to break the strike deadlock, a move that may have been designed to bolster his weakened decision-making credentials. Still, sitting somewhere in the middle, almost nobody believes he would be asked by his own people to lead them for another term.<br /><br />It appears that we are about to hit a fork in the road, and both directions offer a lousy future.<br /><br />And yet, not everything is necessarily definite. Depending on how the events of the next 30 days or so play out, SA could be in for a surprise or two. The picture of our future is still developing.<br /><br />But before we continue talking about what will paint that picture, and perhaps to understand the process better, let's look at the events that led to the destruction of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, whose long-time leader, Broz Tito, died in 1980 after leading the country and his party since 1945. In 1985, the communist cell of Belgrade elected a new boss, a little-known banker named Slobodan Milosevic. And as had been the case many times before, Milosevic became leader of Serbian communists in 1987, as his best friend and mentor, Ivan Stambolic ascended to the post of president of Serbia.<br /><br />But in the same year, Milosevic, a career communist until then, turned nationalist, split with the official line and demanded an urgent and forceful resolution of Kosovo's Albanian separatist problem. Where he encountered a problem at party level, he steamrollered the opposition, including his own boss and best friend, Stambolic. In the best populist tradition, while controlling the press completely, he stoked up people's feelings of righteous anger and then organised so called “people's revolutions” to replace the leadership of the provinces he needed to put into his column. (You are completely free to draw parallels with one Julius Malema's consolidation-of-power tactics) His plan was pretty sound: He was to mobilise and organise his forces to become a majority compared to the “enemy faction” from Croatia and Slovenia, before the 14th Congress of the Yugoslav Communist Party in January 1990. He completed his master plan well before that date.<br /><br />And his domination of the party's congress was total. His people came to power, his policies became federal policies. At that moment, he thought, he was in control of the whole country.<br /><br />Except that Croatian and Slovenian communists simply couldn't and didn't want to stay in the party dominated by the polarizing and uncompromising figure Milosevic was. So they pulled out of the Federal party, effectively ending its existence.<br /><br />By the end of the 1990, there were free elections in every Yugoslavian province and the communists were still clinging to power only in Serbia, after an election campaign marred by violence and intimidation. Suddenly, Milosevic's master plan, so brilliantly executed, meant nothing anymore. His only way of thinking, through communist party apparatus, was simply outdated and no longer applicable to the entire country. So he turned to his last set of friends, the heavily-ideological Yugoslav Army for help in stopping the secession of Croatia and Slovenia.<br /><br />The result was the bloodiest war in post-WWII Europe.<br /><br />So why, you may ask, do we dedicate so much space to a loser politician in charge of a perpetually losing nation? Well, history is there to teach us something rather painful in this case.<br /><br />The ANC and its partners are built very much in the same way, and on the same understanding of the liberation movement's moral righteousness and total infallibility as was the Yugoslav communist party. As any communist party, for that matter. The same system of deployment wrought incalculable damage to country's economy. The same near-total blindness to global developments and civilisational gains. The very same claims of exceptionalism. Especially where communist parties are concerned, history can teach a lot. The current antagonism within the tripartite alliance is a sure sign of a party that was running the country having gone unchallenged for way too long. So long, in fact, that the original idea around which the organisation was built has been long-relegated to largely fictional self-congratulatory statements about how great the country is and how well everyone lives. (Repeat after us: We have successfully completed the SABC's transformation from the state broadcaster into a public broadcaster.) No, the glue that holds every organisation that has near total power is just that, total power. And if one side in the ruling alliance does not enjoy that power, the organisation will eventually have to undergo a major, sometimes crippling and always painful make-over.<br /><br />So it is important to understand current events in the Cosatu – ANC – Youth League maelstrom through this historical perspective. Cosatu and the Youth League are motoring in completely opposite directions at full speed. Cosatu wants more socialism, Youth League chooses to follow an even worse path of cheap populism. But what is important to understand is that what happens within the ANC proper in the following weeks will substantially define the future of South Africa. By orchestrating his total domination over the Youth League and with his renewed push for his own agenda, Malema has pulled the wires to the point of breaking. And if his allies in the ANC leadership use the national general council to pull ever so slightly more in the same direction, it may render the alliance null and void, very much the same way as Milosevic did in 1990. In other words, if successful in taking over the ANC, Malema and company will probably win the battle, but lose the war.<br /><br />Still, it is not an easy task being a Cosatu leader these days. On one side, one has to satisfy the raging members regardless of the waning popular support, and on the other, one has to find another way of attacking the ANC without explicitly stating that the alliance is no more. Vavi and company have a painful choice to make these days, one of becoming the power themselves or not. And if Malema's line wins at the national general council, that choice will probably be made for them. Dutch public opinion polls show Wilders and the PVV in the lead position for any future Parliamentary election. The PVV is currently the leading Dutch party in the European Parliament. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F. The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.<br /><br />Couldn't be any simpler than that... </span><p>

They lead to decades of frustrated poverty and lifetimes of untreated illness culminating in early death. I remember the columns of death notices for men and women in their forties and fifties that appeared in the local newspaper. Gradually I learned to associate those death notices with the lack of fresh foodstuffs, the travesty of state health care, and the pervasive demoralization of an enslaved population drowning itself in cheap alcohol and cigarettes.<br /><br />Gradually I came to understand that the condition of life under communism, so filled with repression, suspicion, and hopelessness, dragged one down into an early grave. Gradually I saw that within the communist state everyone-everyone except the leadership of course-subsists in a cage of gnawing bitterness and permanent defeatism.<br /><br />Unnumbered lives were sacrificed on the ungodly altar of communism in the last century, not only in my temporary abode of Yugoslavia but throughout eastern Europe, Russia, and much of Asia, Africa, and South America, and now the American Left wishes to revive this monstrous ideology on our own shores. Every totalitarian regime begins with the same heartfelt promises of justice and equality, just those promises of fairness that Barack Obama has made the fixation of his political career. What tyrant, one might ask, has not risen to power on promises of benevolent change?<br /><br />Soon, however, those who come to power, even with good intentions, discover that for all men to be made equal, some men must be made poor, and most men will not agree to be made poor in the absence of force. So force must be applied, assets must be seized, censorship must be imposed, dissidents must be jailed, enemies must be destroyed. Men must be made equal by any means necessary, and soon enough those means include intimidation, imprisonment, and execution.<br /><br />Again and again, the handsome smile of the reformer is twisted into the callous sneer of the tyrant. "African People's Socialist Party" and The Racist Uhuru Movement

One explanation behind this trend sadly indicts key leaders of a certain group within St. Petersburg's black community. Uhurus - or participants in the Uhuru movement - glibly refer to the events in 1996 as an "insurrection" rather than riots, implying that the arson and looting that destroyed many black homes and businesses was, in some sense, justified.<br /></span></strong><br />An insurrection isn't brute force, according to the Uhurus, but rather the rightful response to "oppressors" and the proper method of rectifying allegations of police misconduct. According to Uhurumovement.org, Uhuru was born of the African People's Socialist Party. The party's ideology is mix of the inherent infeasibility of socialism and the abject racism characteristic of all ethnic power movements.<br /><br />First, Uhurus do not see black Americans as individuals, but rather as indiscriminate cogs in a familial mechanism -- as "daughters and sons of Africa." Aligned with the racist notion that ethnicity determines behavior, the familial mentality assumes that people with a certain skin color or background automatically participate in that culture's rites and are born into a sort of shared, collective identity.<br /><br />To better illustrate the absurdity of such a position, I'll give a personal example. Although my family is closer to its Polish ancestry - my grandparents emigrated in the 1930s - than most blacks are to their African ancestry today, I am in no way a "daughter of Poland." I wasn't born with an innate need to visit the "homeland," name my children Wladvislav or Ludgwiga to snub more Western oppressors, or wear chintzy Polish garb. If I acted according to the mandates of this cultural crutch, however, it would be a choice - not because my ancestry fated me to do so.<br /><br />In a similar vein, the Uhurus demand that American blacks not be subject to the same laws as all other U.S. citizens because they are black. In other words, the Uhurus condone the separate legal treatment of races, so long as it "benefits" blacks.<br /><br />Article 2 of the African People's Socialist Party platform, for example, calls for the immediate exemption of all blacks from U.S. taxes. The sixth article then calls for the immediate release of all "Africans" from U.S. prisons because, obviously, no black person in prison could possibly be there because he or she committed a crime. Instead, all blacks are in prison "due to decisions, laws and circumstances which were created by aliens and foreigners for their own benefit and as a means of genocidal colonialist control." But perhaps the most laughable demand is that blacks should be paid billions in reparations for past injustices such as slavery and apartheid.<br /><br />Of course, in the case of America, nobody who actually owned slaves is still alive (unlike the modern Africa of today where blacks enslave blacks in Sudan), so this would mean that today's whites would be forced to pay for the obvious wrongs of people they've never met or had the opportunity to influence, just because they happen to look like them.<br /><br />The African Socialist Party's ultimate aim, however, is worldwide socialist revolution and the "onward progress of communism" to liberate black people everywhere. But even cursory analyses of history and economics show that illiberal economic policies foster poverty for blacks as well as everyone else, in addition to compromising individual rights.<br /><br />Consider the case of Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe. Originally hailed as a "liberator" against "colonial oppressors," his socialist mantra culminated in 2002 when he mandated white, commercial farmers leave in order to redistribute the "stolen" land. Chaos ensued. Because food was no longer produced on an industrial scale, what had once been a fruitful agricultural region could no longer feed its own people. In 2005 and 2006, Zimbabwe's Marxist-Leninist government rendered homeless its urban poor by destroying their shanties in movements chillingly named "Drive out Trash" and "Operation Roundup." Silly me - I thought socialism was supposed to help the poor.<br /><br />Though less extreme than the case of Zimbabwe, the correlation between interventionism and poverty in America nevertheless persists. In Free to Choose, Milton Freidman described the high rate of unemployment among teenagers, especially black teenagers, as a "scandal", and attributed the trend to minimum wage. This is because wage floors have been shown time and time again to price low-skill jobs out of the market entirely. Similarly noted in Walter Williams' work The State Against Blacks, the regulation of entrepreneurship, be it in the form of a taxi medallion or occupational licensing, often inhibits historically disadvantaged parties from entering the labor force, because they simply do not have excess capital and time to comply with such rules.<br /><br />The economic policies purported by the Uhurus and, in turn, the African People's Social Party convey penury onto the blacks they claim to advocate, as well as everyone else. But it is not the Uhurus' harebrained cry for financial retribution that proves most troubling - it is the insistence that "members" of particular races are known merely by their identifying group, not by their individual sentiments, abilities or aspirations.<br /><br />Yet such disregard of the individual, far from fostering equality, is the very attitude that allowed slavery to happen in the first place: to lower man to the level at which he's thought of merely by means of race, ethnicity, nationality or "breed" promises that he be treated accordingly -- as an indistinct ant in the collective, and not an individual man.</span> <p></p>

Although John McCain and other Republicans are afraid to say it, his remarks can only be interpreted to mean one thing: economic reparations for slavery.<br /><br />This is yet another example of Obama's lack of candor and deception about his true radical agenda during this campaign, as well as the mainstream media's failure to vet such serious issues and force them out into the open where voters can see them and have a fair chance to evaluate them before they go to the polls.<br /><br />In 2001, Obama said it's a "tragedy" the Constitution wasn't radically interpreted to force redistribution of wealth for blacks, and it's still an issue of concern for him today. And he suggested he wants to effect "major redistributive change" through legislation.<br />He complained that during the civil-rights era, "the Supreme Court never ventured into issues of redistribution of wealth" for blacks, and that the Warren Court was not "radical" enough.<br /><br />"One of the tragedies of the civil-rights movement was there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change," he said while serving as a state lawmaker and University of Chicago lecturer. "And in some ways, we still suffer from that."<br /><br />That was in 2001. Now those coalitions, led by ACORN and other radical urban community organizers, hope to deliver Obama to national power along with a legislative majority working on their behalf.<br /><br />"Maybe I'm sharing my bias here as a legislator, but I'm not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts," he added. "The institution just isn't structured that way."<br /><br />Obama explained that justices felt uncomfortable forcing school districts to pay the extra expense to make the necessary changes to accommodate their desegregation rulings. They would rather not get involved in issues of direct remuneration. Legislators, on the other hand, would have no such qualms about making people pay.<br />He said the process of redistributive change and "economic justice" is "administrative and takes a lot of time" -- things that are best left to a federal administration and legislature.<br /><br />In a separate interview, he said the framers of the Constitution had an "enormous blind spot" regarding slavery -- no argument there. But then he said that the Constitution -- in spite of its subsequent proper amendments giving blacks full citizenship and rights -- still "represents the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day."<br /><br />This echoes what he wrote in his 2006 autobiography about the Constitution being "marred by the original sin of slavery."<br /><br />Question: Does Obama want to further amend the Constitution in some way? It seems he thinks something is missing, left undone. Does he want to institutionalize reparations somehow? It's a serious question he should be compelled to answer, if he would only give reporters outside his fawning entourage a chance to ask it. (He hasn't held a press conference in over a month.) Remember, Obama was a constitutional lawyer and would know how to get the amendment ratification process started with the right majority in Congress behind such a movement.<br /><br />Back in August, Barack Obama said Washington shouldn't just offer apologies for slavery, but also "deeds." Don't worry, he said, he wasn't talking about direct reparations.<br /><br />I wasn't put at ease then, and I'm definitely not now.<br /><br />"I consistently believe that when it comes to ... reparations," Obama told a gathering of minority journalists, "the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."<br /><br />A few days later, he clarified his remarks, saying he was not calling for direct cash payments to descendents of slaves, but rather indirect aid in the form of government programs that will "close the gap" between what he sees as white America and black America.<br /><br />In other words, stealth reparations.<br /><br />He says government should offer "universal" programs -- such as universal health care, universal mortgage credits, college tuition, job training and even universal 401(k)s -- that "disproportionately affect people of color."<br /><br />Obama's 2006 book and Web site outline a plan calling for essentially a government bailout of the inner cities, which he describes as "repositories for all the scars of slavery and violence of Jim Crow." Among other things, he proposes:<br /><br /></span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Doling out federal grants "targeting ex-offenders or substance abusers";<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Subsidizing supermarket chains that relocate to the inner city;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Creating a "universal 401(k)" in which the government would tax private contributions and match public contributions made into new retirement accounts by low-income families;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Imposing "goals and timetables for minority hiring" on large corporations whose work forces are deemed too white;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Ramping up funding for the Community Development Block Grant program, Head Start and HUD public housing subsidies.<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Funding Small Business Administration loans for minority; businesses who train ex-felons, including gangbangers, for the "green jobs" of the future, such as installing extra insulation in homes;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Doubling the funding for federal after-school programs such as midnight basketball;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Subsidizing job training, day care, transportation for inner-city poor, as well as doubling the funding of the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Expanding the eligibility of the earned income tax credit to include more poor, and indexing it to inflation;<br /></span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Adopting entire inner-city neighborhoods as wards of the federal government; and </span></li><li><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">Spending billions on new inner-city employment programs, including prison-to-work programs.<br /><br /></li></ul></span><p><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">This is just a down payment on the "economic justice" Obama has promised the NAACP -- financed by "tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation's wealth," he says in his book.<br /><br />And the indirect aid he's proposing now could quickly turn into cash transfers once Obama is safely ensconced in the White House -- with perhaps a filibuster-proof majority of Democrats at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.<br /><br />Claiming "blacks were forced into ghettos," Obama is certainly sympathetic to the idea of reparations. His church has actively petitioned for them for decades. And he's strongly suggested there's a legal case to be made for them.<br /><br />"So many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow," he said. "We still haven't fixed them."<br /><br />He assumes the economic gap is a legacy of discrimination and largely unrelated to personal responsibility. He also makes it seem things haven't gotten better for blacks, despite statistics showing enormous economic gains and a rising black middle class ("Better isn't good enough," he insists). He also assumes, like his spiritual mentor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that America is "still run by racism." Obama claims "institutional racism" still exists in America, without offering any evidence that legalized discrimination still remains in this country, even in its most backwater parts.<br /><br />Another Obama confidante, Rev. Michael Pfleger, has asserted that white people have a moral obligation to surrender their 401(k) funds and other assets, which he suggested properly belong to blacks.<br /><br />Obama himself has said more needs to be done to "cleanse America of its original sin." He said he cannot "brush aside the magnitude of the injustice done, or erase the ghosts of generations past, or ignore the open wound, the aching spirit, that ails this country still."<br /><br />"The problems of inner-city poverty arise from our failure to face up to an often tragic past," Obama said.<br /><br />He also wrote in his recent autobiography that he sympathizes with militant black activists who fear that "white Americans will be let off the hook" for past crimes, such as "a hundred years of lynching under several dozen administrations."<br /><br />"I understand these fears," Obama said, and agrees that the government has a "responsibility to make things right," suggesting there is at least some legitimacy to militant demands for payback.<br /><br />In calling for a "new order," he invoked the memory of abolitionists and their "willingness to spill blood and not just words ... that helped force the issue of a nation half slave and half free."<br /><br />Apparently, Obama is under the delusion such a division still exists in this country, and that radical action must be taken to unshackle blacks from whatever fetters he imagines are holding them back.<br /><br />"I'm reminded that deliberation and the constitutional order may sometimes be the luxury of the powerful," Obama said. "And that it has sometimes been the cranks, the zealots, the prophets, the agitators and the unreasonable -- in other words the absolutists -- that have fought for a new order." By cranks, zealots and agitators, he is no doubt referring to all the radicals -- from Wright and Pfleger to Frank Marshall Davis and Bill Ayers -- with whom he has surrounded himself.<br /><br />Just what is this "new order" he and all his absolutist pals have in mind for America? And why keep it such a mystery from voters?</span> <p></p>
