A 27-year-old police constable was arrested in Parow on Friday for allegedly attacking three people at their house, Western Cape police said.
Inspector Bernadine Steyn said the off-duty officer was arrested at a house in First Avenue minutes after he allegedly shot and injured one of the residents.

"He went into the house and took R300 from the three residents at gun point. He then allegedly attempted to rape a woman among the two men before he fought and shot one of the men in the hip," said Steyn.

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital.

During the arrest, police confiscated his service pistol.

The man was facing charges of armed robbery, attempted rape and attempted murder.

He was expected to appear before the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Monday.
