South Africa Falling Into Decay

By <a href="http://sarahmaidofalbion.blogspot.com/search/label/Poetry.%20Mike%20Wilson">Mike Wilson</a> South Africa – the name conjures up visions of white colonialism, riches of diamonds and gold, beautiful cities, beautiful people, rich farmlands and technical innovation. A strong and vibrant country with a modern army and air force and an air of expectancy, handed down from Afrikaner father to son, that their land would be the greatest in the whole continent. <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6Gm7IzfqWos" width="640"></iframe> Well it does to me and this is what the country used to be like when I lived there 40 years ago. Johannesburg was a thriving metropolis of great buildings and the frenzied rush of people going about their affairs much like any other major city in the world. It was such a powerhouse of people, ideas and innovations and the strong Boer mentality over rode all. Today Johannesburg appears to be a run down shanty town with decrepit buildings, boarded up windows, filthy garbage riddled streets and squalor everywhere. What happened?   <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LW6lOdxqSUE" width="640"></iframe> The infamous pass laws were rescinded in the early 90’s and the black man took over the country. This utopia, this land of riches, this gemstone in the crown of the continent is now like so many other African nations, a struggling mix of different tribes coming to terms with life in the 21st century. Unfortunately for these black Africans, they have not been able to rise above tribal culture and are cursed with a background that has not reached the stage which would enable them to mentally grasp all the requirements that are needed to administer a complex and busy country. From being the underdog to being the dominant force today has created major schisms within the overall South African society. There is an ongoing payback mentality that encourages blacks to take from the whites in many different ways. In one way the houses of white people are regularly burgled and effects stolen. This is not done covertly and gangs of blacks regularly threaten households. In another way there is what is now called ‘Black Empowerment’ or BEE where blacks are given preference over whites for available jobs. This stupid practice gives the unskilled African peasant direct involvement in manning the infrastructure support that runs the country. As a consequence the major power supply company Eskom is unable to maintain its equipment as most of the trained skilled white staff are no longer employed. This has caused frequent power supply problems so that they had to rely on power shedding or in other words maintaining power to select parts of their industry rather than all consumers who need it. The current youth leader of the ANC, Julius Malema, keeps telling his followers to kill the Boer, one man one bullet. He has recently been found guilty of inciting racial hatred and fined 50,000 Rand for his troubles. Not that this has changed his tactic one iota and on a recent trip to Zimbabwe he went out of his way to repeat the phrase to all who would listen. Over 3,000 white farmers have been murdered since the ANC took over in a deliberate government policy to get whites to give up their land. From being a rich farming country under white rule South Africa now faces the prospect of importing food to feed the masses. Many whites claim that there is now a policy of genocide levelled against Boer farmers as a result of the ANC policy to grab land. This is the same process that started in Zimbabwe and will have the same result. On a recent trip to Zimbabwe there were talks between Mugabe and Malema on how to take over the remaining land still in the hands of white minorities. Now there is also talk of the mining industry which made SA very rich, being nationalised for the benefit of the black politicians. Law and order is a thing of the past now. There is no law of protection for whites and no laws for the blacks to abide by. Even Jacob Zuma the current leader of the ANC had a number of rape and corruption charges levelled against him by the then law and order anti- corruption team called the Scorpions. The ANC had an easy answer to all this, they simply disbanded the unit and the charges were dropped! In fact many of the black policemen supposedly upholding what little law and order is left, are themselves involved in burglarising, raping and armed robberies. The number of deaths of whites has been unrecorded although the litany of deaths occurs on a daily basis. Many people felt that with the advent of black rule and empowerment blacks and whites would be able to sit together and maintain a strong and prosperous country that would continue to be the envy of Sub Saharan Africa. Today the situation is so bad that the country is becoming another Zimbabwe and whites are powerless to stop it but can only look on in horror as their once great country crumbles about them. Due to the political process of giving to the black at the expense of the white there are now 450,000 white people living below the poverty line in shanty towns around the country. The majority of these people are from Afrikaans backgrounds who would normally be the underclass looking after fairly menial jobs, railway workers, cleaners etc. Since those jobs are now taken by blacks these unfortunate men, women and children have no recourse but to become part of the homeless generation, forgotten by more affluent whites as well as the black government. Even some soup kitchens that were set up by well minded individuals have been closed by bureaucrats who say that the whites must fend for themselves. It’s only the help from other whites that keeps these unfortunate people with some form of subsistence. White liberalism is to blame for the problems affecting South Africa and the fall of the white Governments pre 1994. The world saw a country with blacks being oppressed and demanded change for the betterment of the black population. Just like Rhodesia several years earlier. Today, who has benefited from these changes? Certainly not the blacks as the majority of them are now far worse off than ever they were under white rule. Again, the classic example is Zimbabwe under the megalomaniac Mugabe who has robbed his country blind whilst 98% of his followers still live in shantytowns without the benefits of modern civilisation and in abject poverty. Every one of the ruling politicians in South Africa lives a life of wealth and privilege, with the latest cars, biggest houses in the best suburbs etc., yet their followers are very much worse off than they were when the whites ruled the country. Apart from the trashing of cities which have become sleazy rubbish dumps the hospital services are almost non existent. It’s hard to accept that the country that pioneered the first heart transplant under Dr. Christian Barnard has now a run down medical service which once used to be the envy of the world. Everything about the country today smacks of total incompetence with inmates running the asylum for the rest of the inmates who just have no idea what is going on. <a href="http://elliotlakenews.wordpress.com/2010/04/18/eugene-terreblanche-last-interview/">The murder of Eugene Terreblanche</a> may be just the last nail in the coffin of apathy that has affected the white liberals in this broken country. Indeed, apathy is probably the correct word to describe how the rest of the world views this former nation. It just seems that the power brokers amongst civilised nations are just sitting on the sidelines waiting for the continent to implode before they go back in perhaps 40 years time or so, and pick up the pieces once more. Although by that time the Chinese will have probably got in first and blacks will have a far stronger, stricter and nastier overseer than the whites ever were.

A victim of violent crime at the hands of criminals, again

Less than 5 months later, gunmen struck again. This 72 year old pensioner was critically injured as she fought off four armed men who attacked her in the kitchen of their Bryanston home. It came five months after she was followed in her car while driving home one night when she and her husband were attacked and beaten in their driveway as she arrived home. Her assailant’s raced off after her husband, who was in the bedroom, heard her screams for help and fired a shot at the robbers. </div>

Jamie Oliver visited it last year and in a seven-page spread in his magazine, described the food as ‘heaven’ and ‘totally sexy’. He added: ‘In this part of the world, fresh is where it’s at. Just kill it. Gut it. Skin it. Eat it.’ ‘When I go back to Cape Town, I am absolutely going to Mzoli’s.’ The <a href="http://www.sairr.org.za/media/media-releases/Police%20out%20of%20touch%20with%20reality%20over%20Gugulethu%20murder.pdf/view">SA Institute of Race Relations</a> questioned why the South African police were “shocked” at the murder and hijacking of a British tourist. As international and local media agencies have reported a British national and his wife were attacked in the township of Gugulethu on the urban periphery of Cape Town while honeymooning in the city. The couple were kidnapped by armed robbers and the wife was later found murdered. In response to media coverage the <a href="http://www.politicsweb.co.za/politicsweb/view/politicsweb/en/page71656?oid=211229&sn=Detail&pid=71616">South African Police Force has released a statement</a> expressing "shock" at the murder. The police are out of touch with reality for expressing shock at the murder of a tourist in Gugulethu in Cape Town, the SA Institute of Race Relations said on Tuesday. "Data in the possession of the South African Institute of Race Relations shows that over 700 people have been murdered in Gugulethu since 2005. In the year to March 2010 some 110 murders occurred within the Gugulethu police precinct," the SAIRR said. "This amounts to one murder every two-and-a-half days for five consecutive years. How under such circumstances can the police claim to be ‘shocked’ or surprised at what happened to the British couple?" The SAIRR said if the police were truly shocked, then it suggested that "the police’s senior management is out of touch with the reality of life on the ground for people in areas such as Gugulethu who have been left to run the gauntlet of violent crime on a horrific scale". The institute said it was "revealing" that it took the murder of a foreign national for the police's senior management to take stock of the state of affairs in Gugulethu. 'This murder of a newlywed woman has become the symbol of our country' Many South Africans rightly deserve to feel deeply let down by the performance of their government and insulted when it feigns shock and surprise at violence that has become commonplace in South Africa. We live in a country where human life means absolutely nothing to violent thugs. But this one murder - of a beautiful young woman who had just married - has become the symbol of our country to the outside world. This is evidenced by the British media's coverage of the murder. The Daily Mail report on the tragic death of the British bride ended by concluding: "South Africa has one of the worst crime rates in the world." Similar observations have appeared in other publications with The Telegraph reporting that 46 murders are committed each day in South Africa, "a statistic that led to a substantial rise in security during the World Cup". South Africa is indeed a violent country and far too many South Africans are intimately acquainted with this knowledge. And this murder resurrects the doubts and prejudice that surfaced before the World Cup earlier this year. It also reinforces the idea that the safety foreign visitors enjoyed during the tournament in June was a mirage. This murder then shows how life has returned to normal after the soccer fans departed. Anni Dewani's body will be returned to her home and her widower will leave too. Life, as they say, will go on. But it is a life that has become frighteningly abnormal because of our acceptance of barbaric acts of cruelty and violence as a normal feature of South Africa. *Gugulethu made headlines in 1993 when an American exchange student, Amy Biehl, was stabbed and stoned to death. On August 25, 1993, she was driving black friends home to Guguletu township when the car was attacked by a group of youths chanting "one settler, one bullet" -- urging death to all white citizens. The youths stoned the car and struck Ms. Biehl on the head. She fled, bleeding, but the youths cornered her and stabbed and stoned her to death. She was 26 years old.

Three South African expatriates and a Canadian were robbed at knifepoint at the top of Table Mountain. The Lewis family, originally of South Africa, moved to Canada in 1998 to avoid becoming victims of crime. It was brazen and during the day. It was on a walking trail with no warning and no security to prevent something like this. It is very disappointing,” Richard Lewis, the father of the family, told the Cape Argus. Lewis, his wife, Barbara, son Gareth, 24, daughter Bronwyn, 23, and her Canadian boyfriend, Harrison Boyse, 22, decided to take the cable car up Table Mountain early on Tuesday morning. At about 9am, Barbara decided to rest at a shop on top of the mountain while the rest of the group made their way towards Maclear’s Beacon, where two armed men attacked them. “They both carried switchblade knives which they kept waving around saying: ‘Do you want to die here?’, and ‘Don’t make us stab you’. We decided to just give them what they wanted instead of risking our lives,” Lewis said. The group handed over their backpacks, wallets, cellphones, watches and camera. Still not satisfied, the robbers searched their pockets and demanded their passports. Boyse said the thieves became agitated but were willing to return passports and a memory card if someone took it from the camera. "They were getting really edgy and as soon as we got the memory card we began running back to the cable car.” When the group looked back, the robbers were moving up the mountain and going through the backpacks. The family managed to alert police, park rangers began to search the area immediately and a helicopter scanned the area, but found no signs of the robbers. Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz described the incident as “absolutely absurd”, adding that the option of increasing security should be seriously considered. “We can’t have tourists coming and being mugged at a national heritage site.” Table Mountain National Park spokeswoman Merle Collins said that they were aware of, and disturbed by, the incident. Horror story - Bloody attack on baby blatant hatred

This sort of show of absolute disregard for the sanctity of human life should be punished with the only thing that would ensure that they will never be able to do it again - the death penalty. This country is crying for a way to curb the murder sprees and rapes. It is weeping for the lives that have been lost. How many more murders must take place before those that claim to be in power take actions against those that have shown no remorse, no feeling, and no compassion? Bring back the death penalty. Not just to punish those that have killed someone in cold blood, but instead to punish those that have shown that they have no place in this country, or in this world, or on this planet! If you rape, you die. If you kill an innocent person, you die. If you hurt a child, you die. The toddler had suffered skull fractures and was unconscious when the mother found her daughter lying in a pool of blood after she returned home at around 1pm. The two Shangaan suspects aged 23 and 25, both from Mozambique, were part of a team of builders who worked on the property earlier this year. The Times reported on Monday that the domestic worker knew one of the attackers, a Mozambican construction worker, and called him a friend. She let the men into the Johannesburg home, where they watched television with her and the child before attacking them. The one year-old baby has suffered serious head injuries and is still in a critical condition fighting for her life in ICU at the Sandton Medi-Clinic hospital. What our current government needs to understand is whether they admit to it or not, guilt is assessed on its merits and the proof around the alleged actions. You cannot simply say “I didn’t do it”, or “it didn’t happen” or “I don’t know” if there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary, you did do it, it did happen and you do know. The problem is in South Africa you can say it and get away with it. There is however evidence that can substantiate that this country is extremely dangerous and the likelihood of you getting robbed at gun point is a betting mans dream the odds are so good. What amazes me most is how easily journalists can find these violent criminals to interview them yet they evade police for years. The latest furore is around the SWC and overseas companies selling self defence items such as bullet proof vests, stab proof vests and other protective gear to tourists coming to the world cup. According to our government these protective items are not necessary because we don’t have a crime problem and we are being falsely represented on the international stage. Wake up ANC, we live in a dangerous country in comparison to Europe and America where the majority of international soccer tourists live. They can be forgiven for feeling a little insecure when visiting a country with 50 murders a day, daily violent armed robberies, countless rapes, car hijackings and other violent attacks. It is time the ANC stop using denial tactics to brainwash the masses and desensitise them from reality. It doesn’t work, just because they vote for you don’t be so naïve as to think they believe everything you say. It is clearly evident that the majority of the voters vote with their hearts and gratitude for the ANC’s endurance through the struggle and not with their brains. These same citizens live amongst the killers, rapists, robbers and psychopaths and it’s difficult for all of us listen to the hogwash bleated out by our ministers and SAFA leaders who say we are safe and crime is over exaggerated. Surely there must be a problem when you are a deputy minister of self enrichment, minister of luxury procurement or a youth leader of woodwork protected from crime and threat with 10 body guards each. Please then explain to a tourist why wearing a bullet proof vest is wrong if someone as unimportant as Malema has body guards 24 hours a day and most people live in prisons created around their homes to keep the evil out. When confronted with the overwhelming evidence that South Africa is an often lawless dangerous hunting ground for hardened violent criminals who will kill you for a cellphone or less it is understandable that tourists may feel a little frightened and want to protect themselves. It is their right, and if they want to wear protective clothing then that’s ok. Don’t slam their choices because of our problems and inability to deal with violence. We live in the global village and information travels fast and bad news even faster. Western countries value life a lot more than Africa does and that shows in the way they deal with violent crime and murder. Violence is not tolerated and is not swept under the carpet to protect their image. The West has their fair share of white collar fraud and corruption, but it’s the senseless uncontrolled violence and death that scares them for obvious reason. Maybe its time we put human rights for criminals on hold until we have a country whose citizens respect life and have rooted out this violent disease that is killing our country and holding it to ransom. Botswana has a zero tolerance approach to violent crime and if you compare our tragically high violent crime stats with theirs the proof in their approach to dealing with violent crime would be evident. I think most tourists when given the facts would prefer a world cup in Botswana. It’s a lot safer and criminals are dealt with swiftly and strictly unlike our country where criminals share our rights regardless of their crime. I’d feel happier if my taxes were buying rope to hang these animals with instead of feeding and housing them .Maybe then tourists would come here without having to buy stab proof vests and just enjoy our beautiful country without fear of attack. I guess just living here makes you a denial expert which is a huge part of our defence mechanism which justifies living amongst some of the most psychotic criminals in the world. Those who do wake up from the utopia of denial usually pack up and immigrate to Australia, Canada or New Zealand where you are more likely to die from old age than a bullet, knife or other home made weapon used by one of our “imagined criminal attackers”. They then pulled on their Balaclavas." They asked for money and keys to the safe. The attackers tied up WD, his father and stepmother and also tied the hands of his sister, Zia, and her daughter Kaycee. "They told me to lie on my face on the sofa. We weren't allowed to speak and every now and then felt a firearm against the head." WD said the attackers shocked them, but not Kaycee, several times with stun guns. The men took his father to a nearby building from where the family ran the Limpopo Meat Packers business. He gave them the keys to the safe. They took his shoes and pulled a plastic bag over his head. They took R120 000. The attackers forced him back to the house and took him and his wife to their bedroom. A plastic bag was also pulled over his wife's head. "They were choked. I felt like I was going crazy when I heard that but I couldn't do anything," said their son." Employees of the Malherbes who stayed in a flat near the main house, suspected something was wrong and activated an alarm. "They fled when the alarm went off. They took my bakkie, but later left it on a farm road. My father and stepmother's cellphones were also stolen. We feel vulnerable, what should you do if people with police uniforms and a blue light stop near you? How should you know who you can trust?" Free State farmer murdered

Mosupa said a blood covered stone was found at the scene with which the attackers apparently hit Ernest Gieseke, 69, on the head. "His throat was also cut with a sharp object." Mosupa said a search for the attackers started immediately and three men, between the age of 16 and 30, were found not far from the farm. Police are still looking for more suspects in the case.

On Wednesday, armed robbers removed roof tiles from a house in Southernwood to gain access and stole a radio. They were chased by police but they dropped the radio and escaped. Another house was broken into the same day by robbers who fled with four cellphones, a laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash.

But in an unusual mobilisation of forces on Tuesday night, members of the community, along with a group of construction workers from Mamelodi, rallied together to hunt down the alleged culprits. Two men who were found in possession of an unlicensed handgun and jewellery belonging to Odendaal were arrested – one of them was seriously hurt after being subdued by the workers. The men broke into the Farnham Street home while Odendaal’s domestic worker Francia Majadibodu was taking a shower. Odendaal was out shopping at the time, and believed to have been attacked by her killers, who were armed with an assortment of weapons, including a screwdriver, when she surprised them as they were ransacking her home. The men are believed to have tortured her before sexually assaulting her. Neighbours and police said it seemed as if the attackers were fleeing through the garden when Odendaal, who had been left for dead, managed to raise the alarm. This apparently prompted her attackers to return. It seems they then killed Odendaal. Police at the scene could not say whether she had been shot or stabbed. Majadibodu discovered Odendaal’s body lying sprawled in a outside room near the kitchen. Police spokesperson Inspector Paul Ramaloko confirmed that Odendaal had apparently been tortured before being murdered

When my dad came out of the living room door they shot him in the heart. “He collapsed by the couch. In May 2008, Adriaan Steenberg, 45, was murdered. In the same month there were more than 14 armed robberies. In October 2008, robbers killed Rudi Roach, 50, for a cellphone and a couple of beers. In the same month a woman and her daughter were robbed and a 16-year-old girl was raped during a separate robbery. In February this year, Renier Boshoff, 67, was shot dead in front of his wife. In August, a 55-year-old woman, Essie Ferreira, was robbed and earlier in December a 41-year-old woman was raped in her house. 'Oh God, not again' Pretoria - "Oh God, not again," said Renier Lamprecht on Tuesday when he realised he'd been shot during a house robbery for the second time in three years. He died an hour later. His partner, Hannelie du Toit, 39, was with him in their bedroom when four men broke into the couple's house on a smallholding in Pumulani in the Kameeldrift area, north east of Pretoria. Du Toit only realised Lamprecht , 43, had been shot when she saw the bed was soaked in blood. Lamprecht was hit in the torso. A tearful Du Toit told how Lamprecht had seen four men in the living room when he got up to use the bathroom at about 03:30. "His screaming woke me up. "I jumped up and helped him close the door. Then I heard the shot." While Lamprecht and Du Toit were trying to keep the door closed, the robbers fired a shot through the door. Then Lamprecht stood back and the robbers came into the room. Lamprecht and Du Toit were forced onto their bed, where their hands and feet where tied. The robbers repeatedly asked them for firearms, a safe and jewellery, but they had nothing. Eventually the robbers fled with Lamprecht's bakkie, three cellphones, a laptop and Du Toit's handbag. "Renier turned around and realised he'd been shot. He just said: 'Oh God, not again'," Du Toit said. When Du Toit heard the robbers driving off, she loosened the cellphone charger cables around her wrists with her teeth and hopped to the kitchen where she could cut off the tie and shoelaces around her ankles. She went back to the room to cut Lamprecht's restraints before going to the neighbours to look for help. Du Toit was still at the neighbours' house when the paramedics came to tell her they'd done everything they could, but unfortunately were unable to save him. "I went home just to say 'bye'," she said as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. Two South African expatriates living in Canada were stabbed several times while hiking in Fernkloof Nature Reserve near Hermanus yesterday. Two fellow hikers found the couple - the man aged 59 and his wife, 57 - with multiple stab wounds and trussed up at around 9.45am and alerted the police. They were found with their hands bound behind their backs. They had been stabbed several times in the shoulders, back, neck and legs. They had also been stoned with rocks. The pair had been held up, robbed of cellphones, a digital camera, watches, rings and carry bags before being tied up with their shoelaces. Car keys had also been stolen, but the robbers had not stolen the car parked at the base of the trail. It is understood that they had been lying where they were found for at least two-and-a-half hours - all the while losing blood from the knife wounds to their arms, legs and necks. A helicopter had been close by and was immediately dispatched to race to the couple's assistance and the pair were airlifted to Hermanus Medi-Clinic private hospital. The couple has not been named. Police spokesman Neville Philander said today the two remained in hospital and that the attackers had still not been found. A case of aggravated robbery has been opened, and anyone with information is urged to contact investigating officer David Payne on 028 313 7000 or 083 444 0702. Overberg fire chief Riaan Jacobs said the two had been airlifted at about 9am. He said they had lost "quite a lot of blood" and were not able to walk or properly communicate. Overstrand municipal manager Werner Zybrands said there had been four incidents where hikers were attacked but the robbery of the Canadian couple was the first since the municipality beefed up security in the nature reserve.

The robbers apparently said they didn’t want him to see again and identify them to the police. "One attacker sat on my dad's back and smoked a cigarette while he was tied down. My dad has horrific injuries - he may never have normal vision again." Warren said Pretorius was still in hospital. The muscles behind his eyes were damaged and specialists aren't sure whether the muscles will recover sufficiently for him to have normal vision again. Warren said her parents were severely traumatised and receiving counselling. No arrests have been made and Warren accused the police of dragging their feet. Pretorius, speaking from the Emfuleni Medi-Clinic in Vanderbijlpark, said on Monday evening that since the attack almost six days ago, police had not interviewed him about what had happened. "They only spoke to my wife. No one has been to ask me any questions," he said. Warren said people in the building where the attack had taken place and who saw the attackers before and after the incident had also not been approached by police in a bid to gather any evidence. "Paramedics arrived at the Meyerton fire station and found a man was shot through the heart and right leg during an alleged hijacking by three men around 8 pm. He was unresponsive," said ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak. Vermaak said paramedics attempted advanced life support resuscitation but it was unsuccessful. "The hijack victim was subsequently pronounced dead on scene," he said. In a separate incident a shop owner was wounded on Friday after he was shot by robbers in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, police said. Spokesman Inspector Kay Makhubele said armed robbers stormed into a clothing shop around 4pm and pointed a gun at the owner demanding money. "The owner resisted and he was shot on the back after which the suspects ran away. No one has been arrested since," said Makhubele. Police are investigating a case of attempted robbery and attempted murder.

Police spokesman Captain Shado Mashobane said the family of three were watching television at around 9.30 pm, when the men came into the house and demanded money and the family's car keys. "When the man tried to resist, they hit him with a firearm on the head," said Mashobane. The man was treated for the wound on his head. The robbers fled with the family's Ford Focus and Toyota double cab bakkie and some electrical equipment. "The Ford Focus was later recovered in Naledi in Soweto, where it was abandoned," said Mashobane. He said the vehicle was fitted with a tracker. "No suspects have been arrested," he said. Mashobane said it was not known how the gang gained access to the house. No one else was injured in the robbery.

"We suspect he bled to death in the path because he was lying in a pool of blood. Then they dragged him 15m into the bushes, but possibly stopped to rest before dragging him another 15m, before leaving him under a tree," said Deon. The attackers then dragged his brother a further 20m to a river bank and left him there in the bushes before they fled. He was wearing only his underpants. Deon says one of his farm workers disappeared after the incident. This worker's brother is a former employee of Deon. Both men are from Zimbabwe. According to Deon, he sacked the one brother a few months ago because he'd been causing trouble. "Two months ago, that worker phoned me and said: 'I'll show you what I can do with a white man.' I asked him what he wanted, and he replied he wanted R600 from me. "I gave the R600 to his brother to give to him.
