Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's second wife has gone on a luxury family holiday in Asia while the country is suffering from a severe currency shortage. Old Bob has however remained home claiming he is working on the modalities of a new government although it is clear there is no way he can do this without the MDC.
The truth of the matter is that he is afraid of going on holiday and finding his job taken by someone else.
The official press has even come up with an incredible claim that the 84-year-old leader was drafting solutions of circumventing evil sanctions imposed on his illegitimate regime by Western countries, protesting his murderous crusade against the MDC and his blatant electoral theft.
His acerbic spin-doctor, George Charamba said: "This is more of a retreat than an annual leave.
The president is very busy reflecting on the new structures that are needed to deal with the economic sanctions against Zimbabwe, as well as working on structures of an inclusive government which must come soon."
Of course this is all false. He feared being toppled while he is away given mounting international shrill calls for him to be overthrown.
His Zanu-PF is deeply divided, so is his Joint Operations Command.
A humanitarian crisis that has seen over 1700 die of cholera is also intensifying because of rains that are propagating the cholera bacteria.
He is trying to put a sheen on his murderous regime that he cares and cannot go away when in actual fact he is scared stiff that he may be overthrown. It's a grim reality.
Officials said Grace, 42, was adamant that she could not stay at home and miss out on her annual pilgrimage to the Far East, where she and her old husband have bought a lavish retirement home.
The first family have annually gone together for the yearly leave to holiday in several Asian countries.
This time, Grace will be joined by RBZ governor Gideon Gono on her holiday. Old Bob will follow much later to see his doctor for his nagging prostate cancer.
Unfortunately the doctor has been slapped with US sanctions and has baulked at suggestions that he flies to Harare instead, according to our source.
Old Bob has asked Gideon to arrange and pay for his wife's travel and that of his four children, including Grace's son Russell.
Grace and children have drawn scarce foreign currency from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, sources in the central bank confirmed.
Grace is expected to holiday and shop in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia, according to an itinerary leaked to us.
Grace was due to travel specifically to Singapore on a shopping trip before returning to Zimbabwe after about two weeks absence.
Last year, her shopping spree in Singapore caused a storm in Zimbabwe when his 25 large containers of shopping were photographed at an airport.
The photograph was taken by Greg Mills, the director of the South African Institute of International Affairs, who had bumped into Mugabe at the airport.
