Paramedics were on the scene of a house robbery in Blairgowrie, in northern Johannesburg, on Friday in which four people including two children were set alight.

An unknown number of men gained entry to the house earlier and rounded up those on the property.

A man who lives in the area explained what appears to have happened next.

“They locked the maid, the gardener and two small babies in the maid’s room and set them alight. I am standing at the scene here
and the babies are badly burnt.”

Netcare 911’s Nick Dollman said the four victims were treated on the scene.

“It appears there has been an armed robbery at the house, the victims have subsequently been set on fire. Paramedics are attending to four critically injured patients.”

The robbers fled after the attack.
