Brigite was born in the capital Luanda, she is the youngest in the family with eight brothers.

Having just finished High School, she is now a student with an ambition to qualify as a Petroleum Engineer.

Hobbies and leisure interests are: travelling; swimming; music (especially listening to jazz for relaxing times); favourite food is grilled fish and salad.

Her proudest moment was passing her driving test just as she turned 18 years.

Brigite's personal motto is "Life is to short, so enjoy every moment".

Languages: Setswana and English

Itseng spent the first 6 years of her life in the Ngwaketse region of Botswana, then moved with her family to Harare, Zimbabwe, where she completed 6 years of elementary at the international school, before moving back to Botswana.

Currently she is enrolled at the University of Botswana in Gaborone, studying for a Degree in Arts, her specialties being Political Science and Public Administration, her ambition is to follow in her fathers footsteps and become a Diplomat in the foreign service.

Leisure interests include: badminton; aerobics; playing the Setinkana (thumb piano; listening to soft rock or pop music; on weekends she likes to help her mother cooking their favourite meal ‘Phaletshe & morogo wa dinas, a simple but delicious local dish.

Itseng is also very proud to have been selected to be ‘Ambassador to the Overseas Chinese Overland Challenge' when they were campaigning for the 2008 Olympics in Botswana.

Christel grew up in the city of Kinshasa.

Her country has the 2nd largest rainforest and the 5th longest river in the world.

She is the youngest of nine siblings, having 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

Christel has just completed a diploma in tailoring, her ambition is to become a famous designer.

Leisure activities include: swimming; listening to Congolese music: reading books on nature: looking after her pet dog named ‘Capucine'.

Favourite food is: fish and plantin.

Her favourite motto is "I am the Head not the Tail!"

Miss Frances Takyi-Mensah, Miss Ghana World

Miss Frances Judith TEKYI-MENSAH

Languages: English

Frances grew up in Tema, and now lives in Elmina, a fishing town, in Ghana.

She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, it is her intention to continue with a Masters degree in Commerce and the ACCA qualification, to become a Chartered Accountant and Fund Manager.

She is an Ambassador for the UNFPA campaign to end Obstetric Fistula in Ghana.

Hobbies and sporting interests are: Painting; photography; modelling; listening to music; travel and learning about other cultures; basketball; athletics; dancing (including the national dance, Adowa), she also enjoys surfing the internet.

Francis is of the belief that: "the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved", by the late Princess Diana.

Miss Ruth Nyambura KINUTHIA

Ruth lives in Nairobi, has a diploma in Law & International Computing, and is an undergraduate studying International Business Administration.

Her ambition is to work as a special programmes co-ordinator in the United Nations.

Hobbies and sports interests are: playing tennis; cycling; scuba diving; rock climbing; aerobatics; watching movies; reading novels; singing; and dancing Salsa, hip hop and contemporary dance.

She has a special talent for calligraphy and writing poetry.

Favourite food is ‘Biriani', a delicate mixture of rice, local herbs & spices, with pieces of lamb or mutton.

Personal motto is: "Never give up, persistence pays when all else fails".

Olivia grew up in Savannah on the island of Mauritius, a multi-racial and cultural country where one can live in peace and harmony. Olivia's proudest moment was when she graduated with the High School Diploma; she is now working as a Tourist Guide.

Next year she intends to resume her studies in Accounts and Management, as her ambition is to run her own restaurant and run a business in Management and Communications.

Sporting and leisure interests include water sports, cycling, distance running, dance - especially ballet, flute, guitar and travel. Her favourite food is the traditional local food of Mauritius.

Personal motto is "As one people - as one nation".

Miss Martha Elizabeth (Marelize) ROBBERTS

AGE: 21 HEIGHT: 180

Languages: Africans & English

Marelize was born in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia and is the youngest of five children. Windhoek is very colourful in summer, and the mountains surrounding it are bursting with different shades of green, the people are very friendly and helpful.

She matriculated at Windhoek High School, her first job was with a local courier company, where she learned a lot, also had the privilege to learn to drive a forklift on the premises (great fun).

Marelize is currently working as a Company Secretary for a finance company and plans to study business management.

Leisure and sports interests are: hockey, tennis, horse riding, working out in the gym, and has taken ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, and dance classes. She enjoys art and with a little more practice feels she could be a great painter.

Favourite food: her mothers baking and also her grandmothers famous home made fish and chips!

Her motto is "Never regret something that once made you smile".

Adaeze grew up in Anambra State, Onitsha and Lagos. Nigeria is a country rich in oil, solid minerals, and agricultural products.

Adaeze has graduated High School and is currently a student at university, her ambition is to become a top model.

She enjoys travel, swimming, piano, hip hop, R & B, Salsa and her favourite food is rice and stew.


ELENA ANGIONE, Miss Seychelles Islands 2008

Victoria, SEYCHELLES - Elena Angione (C), 22, was crowned Miss Seychelles Islands 2008 in an event celebrated in Victoria with 16 contestants.Praslinois Sophia Marie and Nathalie Domingue, were the first and second runners-up, respectively.Angione will represent Seychelles in Miss World 2008 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Tyrilia grew up in Freetown, where the mountains resemble a Lion's mane, and in the centre of Freetown there is a massive tree that is home to thousands of bats!

Her proudest moment was achieving a diploma in Local Government Administration and a Certificate in Accounting.

She is currently working as a Deputy Roaming Co-ordinator for a Telecom company, with an ambition to achieving her BSc in Public Sector Administration.

Hobbies & sporting interests are: Volleyball; cooking; designing; reading; writing poetry; singing; dancing; drum & belle twist.

Favourite food is the Cassava leaf.

Her motto is "Never give up on your dreams and goals, even in the face of adversity".

Tansey grew up in Johannesburg, she is currently in the process of completing a B.A. in Corporate Communications, her ambition is to start her own fashion label and to run an Events Company.

She has worked as a Sales Executive for an I.T. company, and is also interested in all forms of dance from: ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, modern, to Spanish dance.

Sporting and leisure interests are: cooking; spending time outdoors; acting; singing; listening to music; reading.

Favourite foods are: prawns, calamari, pasta & curries.

Tansey's motto is: "The greatest losses of all, are those from missed opportunities".

Languages: Siswati & English

Tiffany was raised by her grandparents in a small village called Mhlambanyatsi, and later spent a year in Pretoria to take her South African Matriculation.

Swaziland is a land-locked country which boasts of exquisite evergreen scenery and rarely experiences extreme weather conditions.

Tiffany is currently working as a fieldworker/data collector for a Non Governmental Organisation which deals with communicating health messages, but aims to work hard to continue studying and increase her educational knowledge.

Leisure interests are: Netball; aerobics; hiking; reading; singing; listening to gospel, R&B, & Soul music; reading.

When it comes to food, she enjoys sea foods and Chinese dishes.

Personal motto is a quote by Mahatma Ghandi "Be the change you want to see in the world".


Miss Nasreem Ndiye, Miss Tanzania World

Miss Nasreen, Karim ABDALLAH

Age: 22 Height: 174

Languages: Kiswahili, English

Nasreen grew up in Mwanza, a city rich in minerals and tourist attractions, such as the: Bismarck Rock, Saa Nane Island surrounded by the largest lake in Africa, Lake Victoria.

Tanzania is the source of the Nile River: site of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa: and the 8th wonder of the world ‘the Ngorongoro Crater'; it also has a large concentration of wildlife in its many Game Reserves.

Nasreen is pursuing a Bachelor of Art in International Relations; her ambition is to work with a Charity Organisation.

Hobbies/Sports interests include: basketball; travelling; reading; singing and listening to R&B, rock, country, gospel and local music; cooking.

Favourite dishes are: Fish and Plilu with green vegetables, and Matoke (made of bananas).

Nasreen's motto is "Think big, Dream big, and Achieve big".

Dora Mwima, an 18 year-old student from Tororo, gained the Miss Uganda 2008 crown. She will compete at the Miss World 2008 contest.









Miss Cynthia Muvirimi, Miss Zimbabwe World 2008

Miss Cynthia Maideyi Muvirimi

Age: 25

Height: 169cm

Languages: Shona, Ndebele and English.

Cynthia was born in Harare, the capital and grew up in Gweru with her mother, father and twelve siblings (6 sisters and 6 brothers). Zimbabwe is famous for the "Victoria Falls".

She has a Bachelor's in Science (Hon's), Diploma in Nursing and a degree in Midwifery, her ambition is to work with the United Nations as a health advisor/ consultant, empowering women and children in disadvantaged areas. To realise her dream she will be continuing her studies in the near future for a Masters degree in women and child health.

Cynthia's hobbies and sporting interests are travelling, reading novels, surfing the internet, basketball, traditional dance, acting and playing "Mbira", a musical instrument made from wood and metal rings. Her favourite food is egg fried rice with prawns.

Personal motto is "Never lose sight of what you set out to achieve".
