Durban - A car escorting ANC President Jacob Zuma allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian in Ulundi, northern Zululand, on Sunday morning, police said.
Director Phindile Radebe said the car was one of a convoy of vehicles escorting Zuma to an African National Congress rally in Nongoma.
All the occupants of the car were Zuma's bodyguards. Although the car formed part of Zuma's convoy, it was left behind after the accident.
Zuma was not at the scene when the body of the adult man was taken to the mortuary at about 09:00. Radebe said a case of culpable homicide was under investigation.
